Myrka

Myrka Celeste Chapa (born September 26, 1998) known professionally as Myrka, is a Mexican-American singer and songwriter from South Texas. She's taken on the title "RGV Diva Singer" as she is well known for her dramatic vocals in her community. She first started writing music at the age of 8, performing at 11, and continued her professional journey by receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in 2021. She first released her single "Cada Intento" in 2023, and shortly after was invited to open for Sin Bandera. She has since released several singles and covers and has opened for artists like, Sin Bandera, Grupo Frontera, Caloncho, Girl Ultra, Rubio, Lila Downs, and Los Eclipses.

Myrka took the opportunity to start working on her music career in 2023, a year and a half after her father's passing. She worked on songwriting when her father passed as an outlet to grieve which lead to her first single "Cada Intento" in 2023.  Myrka's love for music derives from listening to her father singing and inclusively learned to sing and perform as a Mariachi because of him, and was later awarded outstanding mariachi singer in the state of Texas in 2017. She was then invited to audition for Tengo Talento Mucho Talento where she made a televised debut as a vocalist.

Myrka incoorporates her Mexican-American background in her music and writing with hints of musical influences such as Yebba, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Selena Quintanilla, Yuridia, Natalia Jimenez, Carla Morrison, Teddy Swims, ect. 

Currently, Myrka continues to create new music, keeps knocking on new doors, is working on collaborating with creative individuals in her community, and continues to expand her artistry.
